Manchester City is looking to the market for reinforcements for the season that is starting in England. And at Guardiola’s request, the board is ready to open the coffers to hire defender José María Giménez.
According to the Spanish newspaper ‘As’, the team led by Pep Guardiola is preparing an offer of 89 million euros to hire the Uruguayan defender of Atlético de Madrid.
If the deal is done, Giménez will become the most expensive defender in the history of world football. The current post belongs to Harry Maguire, signed by Manchester United for 87 million euros in August 2019. In addition to the 89 million euros, Giménez’s contract with City would also have a possible additional 5 million euros for goals achieved.
